The Minister of Sports and Youth of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ahmad Donyamali, who is on an official visit to Armenia, today visited several sports and educational institutions to familiarize himself with the infrastructure and discuss the prospects for developing bilateral cooperation.

 

Accompanied by the Head of the Department of External Relations and Diaspora of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Arkadi Papoyan, the Director of the Sports Management Center, Khoren Zargaryan, and the Secretary General of the Football Federation of Armenia, Edgar Petrosyan, the Iranian Minister of Sports and Youth first visited the Technical Center-Football Academy of the Football Federation of Armenia, where he got acquainted with the training conditions. The possibilities for deepening cooperation in the field of football and exchanging professional experience were discussed.

 

Next, Ahmad Donyamali visited the State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of Armenia. Also present was Khalil Shirgolami, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia. Rector Tigran Simonyan presented the educational and research activities of the university, particularly the "Sport Lab" research center, where studies are conducted in the fields of sports physiology, biomechanics, and rehabilitation science.

 

The high-ranking guest toured the gyms for wrestling, judo, weightlifting, and artistic gymnastics to familiarize himself with the training conditions.

 

The parties discussed the possibilities for expanding cooperation in the fields of sports education, science, and research, emphasizing the exchange of professional experience, the implementation of joint research projects, and the organization of workshops and educational events.

 

During the visit, the Iranian Minister of Sports and Youth also met with representatives of the Armenian Anti-Doping Agency. Issues related to doping prevention, anti-doping education, exchange of professional experience, and the implementation of joint initiatives were discussed.
